March 2011...CVK'S Dave Clegg was a recent semifinalist in the "Next GREAT NEWS! Instructor Cooking Challenge". Althought he didn't make the finals it was a fantastic experience...one he says he will never forget.
June 2011...Dave Clegg received third prize for his entry in "the best original cheesecake " contest at the San Diego County Fair.

Dave Clegg is a self-taught amateur chef and recipe author who has always been inspired by his Mom's great cooking. He decided to create "CARMEL VALLEY KITCHEN" as a way to share his passion. We give you options that let you create great food for yourself, your friends and your family. We stress versatility and simplicity. For example, the class on “ENTREES” includes the preparation of two entrees… beef, chicken or fish… and three sauces that can be used interchangeably with each entrée resulting in seven different entrée options. We show you basic recipes that can be easily and simply modified to allow you to create many additional flavor possibilities. We want you to learn to use recipes as guides, always tasting as you go, experimenting and creating things YOU like. Every participant receives “THE NOTEBOOK”, a comprehensive collection of recipes, cooking tips and secrets, the best websites for ingredients and equipment, cook book recommendations, chefs to watch, knife tips and a summary of the best places to buy ingredients locally…the same places upscale San Diego restaurants obtain their ingredients. Our name says everything about our philosophy of cooking great food. We use only fresh, basic, and readily available ingredients and we use only simple recipes where we stress versatility. As Emeril says “we ain’t builden no rocket ship here”.
At CVK you’re introduced to cooking for the beginner/intermediate chef that includes a variety of lesson choices including two options for one-on-one learning and two options for creative cooking. The lessons include....”DESSERTS”, “ENTREES”, “SALADS & APPETIZERS, “COMFORT FOOD” and “COOKING FOR THAT SPECIAL PERSON”. The classes are small, held in your home or in the Carmel Valley Kitchen, are fun, inexpensive and easy to understand.
